My Support Letter

Howdy friends,

We have the opportunity to be a part of an exciting opportunity to serve the children of Juarez, Mexico. We are going to the Emmanuel Children’s Home on July 16th through August 1st. You can search Emmanuel Children’s Home on the internet and find information on their ministries.

The team has met once a week to discuss and pray over the upcoming missions work in Juarez.

In case you don’t know, in the entire world Juarez is considered one of the top five most dangerous cities to live in. It sits on the US/Mexican border and contains many rival drug cartels. The children that live in this city are exposed to murders and kidnappings on a daily basis. The Children’s Home is an oasis that provides protection and guidance from the outside violence and drugs on the street.

You can be a part of this mission work in several ways. First, I would ask that you please pray for our group, the city of Juarez, Mexico and the Children’s Home. Secondly, the team is still in need of financial support to make this missions work possible. We know that God will supply our needs for this trip. If God has given you the desire to give to this missions work then you can send a check or cash to North Oak Community Church (3000 Oak Street Hays, KS 67601-1645) made out to “North Oak Community Church” with “Lifeguard-Mexico” in the memo line on the check but please do not write any names because of legality. Please attach a separate note to the check with my name or any person in the group’s name if you support a specific person. The totally cost for the trip is $400 but any amount of donation will be greatly appreciated. The extra funds that we receive will go to the Children's Home. Whether you donate or not, I would at least like for you to pray for us and the Children’s Home.

Thanks! God Bless!

Ben

Mexico Prep Work

As one of the preparations for this missions trip, the team is reading the book Foreign to Familiar by Sarah A. Lanier. It discusses the differences between various cultures and presents information that a traveler would need to know in order to best build relationships with people from those unfamiliar cultures. Great book!
